We appreciate the many individual people / groups that volunteer their time with Libraries of Love.
The Monday group weeds through thousands of books to find which books are appropriate for students in Uganda. The books have to be hard back – new or like new. Spine labels are typed and placed on the spine of the books. The libraries are then arranged according to the Dewey Decimal system. Volunteers also pick up book donations from many locations.
Friday groups enter data needed for shipping documents. Also, the volunteers type information on labels, which are placed on pockets and cards and placed inside books. In Uganda, to borrow a book, a student signs his / her name on the card inside the book, and leaves it with the librarian.

Libraries of Love volunteers are amazing. Jim and Ellen Matthews, pictured with our Friday Dell group, oversee Dell groups as they type labels for pockets and cards on Fridays. They also volunteer on Mondays typing spine labels. Plus, Jim is in charge of shipping, and Ellen takes care of our Amazon wish list for African books. Definitely amazing people!
